director retrospectives

We present directors whose output had or is having a key influence on the directions of world cinematography. The protagonists of this year will be Janusz Morgenstern and Thomas Vinterberg.

Janusz Morgenstern (1922-2011) was a very important and active individual of Polish cinema. He has worked with excellent composers, actors, and writers. At Two Riversides we will see the director’s most important films. Morgenstern’s work is valued more and more as time goes by, and his films may have more fans today than they had at their release dates. Thomas Vinterberg – considered a wunderkind at the beginning of his filmmaking career, then a rebel of Danish cinema – he is the co-creator of the DOGME 95 manifesto.
